The offseason can bring changes and your coaching staff might have some new members. As a video coach, your job is to transition the new coach from their old computer to their new computer. If you have the new coaches phone number, send them a welcome text and introduce yourself to get started. Everyone appreciates a warm welcome to their new job.
If possible, contact their old video coach to get additional details about the incoming coach to see their preferences such as how they like to conduct their meetings, any other miscellaneous information and what to expect.
Lets take a look at a checklist of items to complete:
Making sure they have their 5v5 / special teams clips and getting those onto the new computer. You might have to grind out cutting 500+ clips to make sure they are available for the coach to use during summer work and training camp.
Bench cards + any other miscellaneous sheets they might use
Practice plans
Create accounts if you use 3rd party applications like sportlogiq, instat, fastmodel
Forward emails from old work email
Presentations
Setting up coach keys on computer
Getting new email set up and anything else IT can help with
Giving them your best 5v5 and spec teamsteaching clips
What do they need for the summer?
Going above and beyond to ease the transition the new coach to your team and coaching staff will go along way to building you relationship with them. It will also make your life easier if you take control of the situation and work ahead to set everything up.
